A shelter for children on the outskirts of Delhi provides food and accommodation for 350 boys. Some are orphans, others have been abandoned, still others have run away from home. About half are held under a court order, having been picked up from the streets for petty crimes. Living at the institution for several months, the filmmaker explores its routines and the varied experiences of several boys. Despite the harshness of their lives, many show remarkable strength of character, knowledge, and resilience. One day 181 child labourers arrived, placing additional strain on the building's deteriorating facilities. The institution does what it can, but is it enough?

The film includes an interview with De Seta, conversations with the film directors Luciano Tovoli, Franco Maresco, Gianfranco Pannone, writers Vincenzo Consolo, Goffredo Fofi, Eugenio Turri and the critic Marco Gazzano. Set in Calabria, Sardinia and Sicily, the film was shot in 35mm film and digital, contains stock footage and images taken by De Seta.

Petr Nikl is a founding member of the Tvrdohlaví (Hard Headed) art group. He is an intermedia artist with classical roots who freely and convincingly expresses himself through traditional art techniques and original books, interactive projects, and improvisational events based on performance, theatre, and music. He won the Jindřich Chalupecký Award in 1995, is a multiple winner of the Best Book Award, and received the Golden Angel Award in the Alternative Music category in 2005. Petr Nikl looks back on his life and his career and gives an imaginary vision of where his path will lead in the future.
